FINALE...so whadya think? *spoilers*

Christi, hope you don't mind me postin.' It's just that I'm on the east coast. So while people sleep in San Francisco, I'm already on my third coffee.

I think, as Probes said, this was the best season since the first. The women were amazing to watch. All mental, tough as nails and I don't mean fingernails. I make joke.

No, really, do you think the right person won?

Well, obviously the jury saw something in Parvati that most of us did not. I think it helped her that she switched tribes and was able to win over some of the favorites. It also helped her that she lost the final immunity challenge so that Cirie was pissed off at Amanda during the final vote. I wonder if that was strategy or luck on Parvati's part. She was relatively confident that Amanda would take her to the final two so it wasn't important for her to win. The jury wasn't impressed with Amanda's tears over voting Cirie out. She has used the puppy dog eyes too often. I think they were genuine this time, though. She knew which ever choice she made was going to be unpopular and she was physically and mentally wrung out from playing the game for so long. Amanda should have emphasized to Cirie that Parvati had been loyal to her during game so she was just paying her back by taking her to the final two. Might not have helped, but would have been worth a shot.

At least Amanda got the guy! Ozzy was so smitten during his final speech. It was sweet! His jab at Denise during the reunion show was pretty funny, too!

What the heck was that question of Natalie's about?? I just about fell over and so did most of the other jury members. Was she asking Parvati's sexual preference? I think Natalie had more than just a platonic admiration for Parv!

I was surprised that Parvati won. I think that Amanda played the better game. Parvati was taking a lot of credit for things that Cirie had masterminded, and Amanda had more wins at immunity challenges than Parvati. Amanda's lack of public speaking skills was her downfall, in my opinion.

I was hoping for at least a tie during the final moments, what would they have done then? Made them make a fire in the CBS studios?

What was up with Natalie's question? She was really throwing out the "I'm a bisexual" "call me to pose for Playboy" lines!

Ozzy surprised me with his revelations of love for Amanda, I got teary-eyed. Then when he answered Jeff's question afterwards, about whether they were still a couple. he "zinged" Jeff with the line about "Survivor girls" and also zinged Denise (from last season) with his line about cleaning toilets. Ouch! Pretty funny stuff :)
(btw, Jeff and Julie broke up before this Survivor began).

It broke my heart to watch Cirie apologize to her family for "just falling short" again. She really was brilliant. Jedi mind tricks. It will be a long time before we see anything like that again. In the end, I admired Cerie's mental game the most. I agree, Amanda's doe-eyed blankness was a bigger turnoff than Poverty's blatant admissions of flirty manipulations. I guess I can't call her that anymore. And what about James' final statement? He seemd to be saying he and Poverty had "game sex." He and Nat's comments had me wondering how far did she go to win?

I was totally bummed that Perv won. And I think Cirie didn't get all the credit she deserves. I can't believe she wasn't one of the three up for the bonus money. Always good to see James get it, but Cerie deserved it for sure.

Natalie has some problems. That was evident. I was cringing for her when she asked her question at the last Tribal. And then when she was babbling at the Reunion show.

Hopefully Amanda and Oz can spend time in Mexico fishing or diving or something.

The next Survivor looks really cool!

I was surprised that Parvati won, but in the end, she outplayed Amanda. Amanda should have told Cerie that a) Parv was loyal when Cerie was not and b) She (Amanda) could never have beaten Cerie in a final vote. Amanda may have been true to her alliance, but Parv made friends with the other side and never showed herself to be in charge of any oustings. Amanda fell apart at the end and the doe-eyed tears were more annoying than endearing. I still wish Cerie had won and wish there were a Survivor fan fund we could donate to to honor one of the best players in the game ever!

I missed the end of the reunion show and will go online this afternoon to see the rest.

*fan fund* for Cerie, I agree! Perv. That's perfect. LOL

I'm also surprised Cerie wasn't in the final 3 for the extra cash...I voted for her to win the money because I knew she wasn't going to win the game. She flew too low under the radar and the only ones who saw her true brilliance were in the final 2, and I don't think she ever won an immunity challenge before. Poor thing...her shaking hands at the last challenge are exactly the reason why doctors and nurses don't work on their own family or friends...there is too much mental pressure to succeed, that everything comes crashing down. I was also heartbroken at her final words. She truly deserved the win. If it had gone down to a final 3 instead of a final 2, then I'd be willing to bet Cerie would have gotten the votes because as Amanda herself said, Cerie can talk just about everyone into anything....except she couldn't convince Amanda to take her to the final 2.

I figured Parv would win over Amanda because of Parv's flirtatious nature. People can forgive someone who's a flirt that goes back on their word, because they are open about it, but Amanda played people as if she were forming true friendship bonds with them, then stabbed them in the back. That kind of betrayal stings much deeper and longer. Also, the people Amanda really burned were the ones most recently voted off, so the pain of betrayal is still fresh in their minds....they haven't had the time to get full bellies, reflect back, and forgive a little.

That was probably one of the best seasons of Survivor ever! I noticed that there wasn't a car give-away this time...no car curse! Amanda would've won the car, so in essence, the curse is still in effect.

      >> I was hoping for at least a tie during the final moments, what would they have done then? Made them make a fire in the CBS studios? <<

I was wondering, too. I had jotted down how I thought the jury votes would go after listening to the question and answer period and I thought it would be a tie. I really wonder what the planned tie breaker was. Do you think they would ask the audience to decide? Maybe they had punch pads at their seats, like they do in Americas Funniest Videos or something? That was my best guess, anyway.

I don't mind at all. I'm glad to see the thread has been started. I watched last night, but went to sleep right away afterwards, now I have only 5 minutes to Tribe till I have to go to work. Of course I had to check in here! But I won't have time to write, really, till later this afternoon. I'm happy to see you all are commenting. I'm looking forward to what everyone has to say! :-)

Amanda should have taken Cerie with her to the final 2 b/c once again, Amanda was NOT going to get the million sadly and Cerie certainly is a lot more deserving than Parv.

Is there any place that shows who jury members voted for? I'm thinking Amanda only got votes from Ozzy, James and Erik. I actually think if Amanda had taken Cirie to the final 2 and revealed how much Cirie had been the master manipulator, then Amanda would have won ...

Amanda played it well, but obviously came up short - I actually thought for sure she would win over Parv. If she were to bring Cirie to the final 2, then Cirie would had won on maybe "sympathy". I think the rest of the jury would feel the same way most of us all do in that she might had deserved it.

And the next Survivor looks really cool. I try to follow all the nature shows in Africa, but the place they're going it somewhere I hadn't really heard about.

Yes, I agree. The next Survivor in Gabon, Africa looks absolutely amazing. It's going to be spectacular to watch with the vivid and colorful nature setting. And it all will be filmed in High Definition, too.

You are correct about the votes. Even Eliza, who sparred with Parvati constantly and thought she might be "just mean," voted for her. I don't think that Amanda could have beaten Cirie if she couldn't beat Parvati! She probably could have beaten Parvati if she'd done better with her speech and questioning at the final vote. People seem to be able to respect being beaten by someone who admits to being a jerk who played well than someone who tries to act innocent of any doublecrossing when they aren't, even though Amanda had done far less of it than Parvati.

Amanda does not have a particularly keen mind. Parvati does. Amanda couldn't frame her case in a way that made sense to the jury. She's very beautiful, and I bet that teary doe-eye thing works for her IRL, but not on Survivor. Flattery and cunning work far better, as Parvarti demonstrated.

Looks like the Homer Simpson make-up gun was in effect again! I hardly recognized Parv!

I noticed the highly made up and styled looks, too. Survivor must have a stylist and make up person that tries to make them look very made up and different looking for the reunion show. I didn't like the way Amanda looked at all. Her hair is too feathery in the new cut. I though Parvati looked good. Amanda was the one I could barely recognize.

You could be right. Also, Ozzy still thought it was Parvati who masterminded his blindside and eviction. It was actually Cerie who came up with that plan. I can see why Ozzy would be mad at Parvati for not sticking to her alliance with he and Amanda when that happened, but he blamed her for the whole plan. I was surprised that never came up during the finale or reunion show. Cerie was behind several plans that those who were voted out never knew it was Cerie's thinking that started these plans and blindsides.

    >> No, really, do you think the right person won? <<

I had been rooting for Amanda the whole season. But when it came down to it, I do think Parvati played a damn good game. Yes, I think she deserved the win. In her bringing the women from the fans in to an alliance, and then combining that alliance with the favorites women, they were able to take control of the game. And Parvati making these friendships with both the fans and the favorites really worked for her when they became jury members. There's more to the game than winning challenges, and she did win one, too. A huge issue in Survivor is having jury votes, and I don't think that's been studied as much as some of the other strategies in winning Survivor. It's very hard to turn on your tribe members and still get their votes in the jury. I feel good about Parvati winning. She played a different game this time than the last one where being the flirt was just about all there was going on. She made genuine friendships with the women this time. I'm happy for her that she won.
